Dominick "Fat Dom" Alongi once headed the Genovese crew centered at the Triangle Social Club. A New Orleans native, Alongi was a close associate of Vincent "Chin" Gigante and was suspected of driving the getaway car when Gigante allegedly shot (but failed to kill) underworld kingpin Frank Costello in May 1957. Fat Dom, whose face was pockmarked by a serious skin condition, died in March 1980 at age 52.
